Deuteronomy 28:13 13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. New King James Version (NKJV)
It is true that as we walk in the way the Lord leads us then we are the head and not the tail. Notice the qualifier. It’s the same qualifier that God indicated in Deuteronomy 28:13. If we are careful to do the things that our Lord commands us to do then we will find ourselves at the head in life and not falling behind at the end.
Mark 9:23 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” New King James Version (NKJV)
Jesus said that all things are possible for him who believes. All that is needed by us is to receive this truth and walk in it. That seems simple when I say “all that is needed” but it is not as easy to actually receive the truth and to walk in it. To practically receive you have to take the second step and actually walk in that truth.
The first step is to actually believe that what God says is true. The second step is to walk in that truth. You have got to step out on faith and “do.” Faith is a verb. Faith is what you do. James teaches us so much about this truth.
James 2:18-20 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? New King James Version (NKJV)
